One Constitution Avenue issue

The government formed a high-level committee over the One Constitution Avenue issue and halted action temporarily. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered authorities to stop further steps until a final decision is made. This move came after recent developments raised concerns among stakeholders.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the committee will be led by Azam Nazeer Tarar. It also includes Talal Chaudhry, along with senior officials like the cabinet secretary and commerce secretary. The committee will review the matter carefully and ensure fair consideration for all parties involved.

Officials stated that affected individuals can present their concerns before the committee. The panel will listen to all stakeholders without discrimination. It aims to ensure transparency and fairness while reviewing the القضية and gathering all relevant facts.

The committee will complete its review within one week and submit a report to the prime minister. Until then, authorities in Islamabad have been directed to avoid any enforcement action. This pause is intended to prevent further complications and allow a balanced decision-making process.

Earlier, the Islamabad High Court upheld the decision of the Capital Development Authority to cancel the lease of the building. The court also dismissed a petition filed by a private company against the cancellation, which led to immediate administrative action.

Authorities had attempted to take control of the building and issued a deadline for evacuation. Officials said most of the structure is already empty, with only a few residents remaining. The One Constitution Avenue issue remains under review, as the committee formed over One Constitution Avenue prepares to guide the final decision.
